ShockWidgets miniStat2 version 1.91 update
Release notes (previous)

   This update includes several new features, bug fixes and optimizations. Just download zip file, unpack it and install included .wdgt package.
Notice: If you're registered user, this update is free for you. Re-registering or license update is not necessary.
If you've lost your serial number, or miniStat2 rejects your own key - please contact us.

   If you don't want miniStat2 to remind you about new updates, there is a "hidden" option to disable updates checking. It will not be available as option in graphical interface anytime soon, so just type this command in the Terminal application:
  defaults write widget-com.shockwidgets.ministat2 option-disable-updates 1

About minor 1.91 update:
  • Leopard-ready. This version now works properly and doesn't freeze on a new Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
  • iMac Aluminum skin for a new glass/black iMacs is also available alongside with new Leo-style Aurora wallpaper.
  • New "Free memory ratio" display option could show (free+inactive)/total RAM usage ratio. Greater ratio values means more free memory available in your Mac.
  • Little bug-fixes, like frequency display fix on a new Santa Rosa chipsets and so on...

    Bugs with the following components were fixed in 1.91b:
  • Frequency values on a new MacBooks and iMacs with CPU faster than 2.2GHz
  • Battery information on a G4 laptops
  • Growl configuration in the preferences
If you have problems installing or using this driver, or it asks you to install it each time you open the widget – try to delete /System/Library/Extensions/IntelThermalDriver.kext file, close the widget, re-download it and install again.

About minor 1.90 update:
  • Interface and graphics improvements. There are a bunch of new wallpapers built-in right into the widget and the new black icon and the new "minimal" skin are now in Leopard-like style. Some sections of the widget were also re-designed with new graphics.
  • Numerous bugfixes. The widget no longer crashes on a 8-core MacPro, and doesn't accidentally switch network interfaces.

About minor 1.89 update:
  • iPhone and AppleTV skins. Event if there is a plenty of time till release of iPhone, you can make miniStat2 look a lot like it. This skins also comes with built-in "clownfish wallpaper" that matches the background image from the actual iPhone presentation.
  • Most memory-hungry applications list is now located alongside with the list of most CPU active processes. Just hit "P" button to popup the list and click the first column to change sorting criteria between RAM and CPU usages.
  • Actual hard-drive icons are now shown in both desktop mode and "Storage" section.
  • Several bugs were fixed in Growl messaging, Logitech mice battery indicator, MacPro processor frequency gauge. The widget will also now remember and restore the state it was before system restart.

About minor 1.88 update:
  • Logitech® wireless mice battery indicator. We've added preliminary support for Logitech® wireless mice in this version, so now you can check your current mouse charge right in the widget's battery section. This feature was tested only on a few mice from V-series.The latest version of Logitech® Control Center software should be installed on your Mac. If miniStat2 isn't showing correct mouse charge on your computer, please e-mail our support team and tell us what model of Logitech® mouse are you using.
  • Three new skins of all next generation gaming consoles were made specially after several requests from our users. miniStat2 can now be configured to look like Microsoft® Xbox 360™, Sony® Playstation 3™ or Nintendo® Wii™.

About minor 1.87 update:
  • Double-core temperature sensors are now able to display separate temperature values for both cores of your processor. This features was tested and proved to work well on MacBooks, while iMacs seems to lack double-sensor feature so you will see only one temperature value.
  • New skins – the widget is now packed with all-new iPod icons to customize "Storage" section, and also includes Apple Cinema Display skin.
  • Several user-reported bugs in version checking, traffic counters and Growl section were also fixed. If you're encountering any problems with miniStat2 - feel free to contact our support team.

    NEW IN 1.87x
     This little update fixes some issues with temperature and processor frequency monitoring for Intel-Macs. This version also has special driver that miniStat2 will prompt you to install after first startup. We've removed it in the previous update, but now we decided to push it back for compatibility reasons.


About minor 1.86 update:
  • Fan speed values for Intel-Macs – starting this update, miniStat2 will have built-in support for fan speed sensors for Intel-Macs. With all current heat-issues of MacBooks, it's very important to know how fan of your laptop is operating at the given moment. For better experience, don't forget to update your Mac to the latest Mac OS X version and install the all firmware updates (if available).
  • Several user-reported bugs, like non-updating values in the Desktop mode, were fixed.

Intel Core DuoAbout minor 1.85 update:
  • Temperature Driver for Intel-Macs – there is no need now to install 3rd party software to allow the widget to monitor temperature values on a new Intel-Macs. Just install miniStat2 and you will see at what temperature your processor is operating right now, and you will be also notified with Growl notification when it will reach a maximum critical value. Current processor frequency is also can be viewed in the widget with the help of new driver. If you're experiencing any problems installing it or getting a proper temperature values - just contact our support team.
  • Bluetooth switch will be useful for everyone who use it to connect Mac to the modern cell phones or PDA's. Just open the Network section and click on either big Bluetooth icon or little green icon to change Bluetooth power or discoverable status respectively.
 If you have installed SpeedIt on your computer just for temperature monitoring in miniStat2, it's now safe to delete it if you don't mind to use it for anything else - the widget will not use it anymore. However, if you wish so - you may keep SpeedIt on your Mac, it won't conflict with new driver in miniStat2 in any way.  You may also notice some changes to a sections layout menus - we've added some indication to them, so you can see what type of information is already chosen in some layout. After this update, some section configurations may be modified due to some code change.

About minor 1.84 update:
  • New Bluetooth Mighty Mouse support – the widget will now show correct values of battery charge for a new wireless Mighty Mouse.
  • Automatic network interface switch could help you to change between network interfaces when you move from house to work, for example. miniStat2 will now automatically switch to a network interface with the highest traffic, if your current connection is lost or disconnected.
  • There is also a new Mac Pro skin. Visually it is very similar to an old PowerMac G5 skin, but new Mac Pro have two optical drive bays instead of one - that's the difference.

About minor 1.83 update:
  • Active processes list – an ultimate power of Activity Monitor and UNIX 'ps' command is now built in miniStat2. The "Processor" section is now modified, so you can check now what are the most active applications currently running on your Mac. To access this list, open Processor section and click on the any app icon in the bottom-right corner of this window. There is also a "P" button shortcut to open processes list from anywhere in the widget.
  • Battery remaining time values will be now the same as values reported by the Apple's battery icon.

  • There are also some issues with interface feedback that have been reported by miniStat2 users. All of them are now seems to be fixed.

About minor 1.82 update:
  • Five new skins – if you're lucky owner of new black or white MacBook, you can make miniStat2 look a lot like your own laptop. There are also new iPod-like skin, for everybody who enjoys this wonderful music player. Some retro's are not forgiven with new PowerMac Q4 QuickSilver skin. After a lot of requests from gaming fans we have also made a nice skin with new Nintendo DS LiteTM look.
  • Two new section types for desktop view - now you can monitor your AirPort signal and sum of both Download+Upload traffic right from the main desktop (summary) view of the widget.
  • A lot of changes were made to the code to improve interface feedback and performance. Previously submitted interface issues have been fixed too.

About minor 1.81 update:
  • Intel-based Mac temperature sensors - thanks to the SpeedIt module from InCrew Software miniStat2 now can use temperature sensors from all new Macs with Intel Core Duo processor. Just install this module and miniStat2 will automatically detect it and hook up.

    You need to install this module manually by downloading it from InCrew Software web-site. This module is free and currently under development. Check it's web-site frequently for more updates - there will be some cool features in the near future.


  • Now you can change currently monitored network interface right from Network tab of the widget. Just click on the network interface name (en1, en0, ...) and selection menu will popup. Don't forget that black rounded button with "IP" symbol allows you to view your internal and external IP addresses.
  • Storage tab of the widget now will show only physical hard-drives. Mounted disk images such as .dmg or .iso will not popup there anymore.
  • Thanks to Ramón Medrano Llamas, miniStat2 is now fully translated into Spanish language.

Major additions and updates in 1.8 version:

  • Growl support - now you can receive current information about your system even if your Dashboard is currently hidden. miniStat2 will inform you about processor overheat, traffic reset or on any other configured conditions. For more information about Growl system, please visit Growl's web-site.

    First of all, you need to download the latest version of Growl package and install it. After it, you may configure it via System Preferences in your Mac. miniStat2-related options are available in "Other" tab. Growl package can be used among wide variety of software titles, such as mail viewers or file managers.

  • Now all six sections in "desktop" are configurable. You may adjust any section of the widget's view to show only information you need right now.
  • In addition to your main desktop layout, now you can create second layout and configure it to show "alternate" values of your choice. For example, you may place general system information in the first layout for home use, and only Network, Airport and Battery values on the second layout - to view them while running without external power and with GPRS/WiFi connection. To toggle between layouts just hit spacebar button on your keyboard.
  • Additional traffic reset condition was added - Reset on specific day of the month.
  • New update also comes with some basic translations of the widget's interface. Currently available languages are:

  • New preferences tab named "Other" for configuring update intervals and Growl behavior.

Minor additions and updates:

  • iBook G4 fan monitoring is now supported.
  • Background color under temperature values are now fluently changes in order to show current situation - green for normal temperatures, red for hot ones.
  • Update intervals configuration controls moved to "Other" tab, and "Extra 6th field info" option is now unnecessary.
  • Significantly improved performance and CPU/Memory usage in the widget's code. Now it is the lightest widget among others in system monitoring category.
  • New values for desktop mode now available: Fan speed, separate CPU usages for dual-processor Macs.
  • Option to force english language in widget's interface was added to "Appearance" tab.
